This was a question writer Matthew Dicks asked his readers. His response about how to be more interesting was awesome:
“Read more. It allows you to borrow someone else’s brain, and will make you more interesting at a dinner party.”
I never thought about it this way, but when you read you get to borrow the writer’s brain for a period of time. How cool is that?
When you read you get to think about someone else’s ideas and thoughts. Reading can transform you to another place and time and let you be free from yourself for that period of time.
I’ve always loved to read and learn, but I never thought about it in the context of borrowing someone else’s brain. When I think about this, it only makes me want to read more because there are so many amazing writers that I just can’t wait to get inside their brains.
Next time you want to be more interesting at a dinner party, take time to get into some great writers’ minds and see how interesting you can be when you mix their thinking with yours.
Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
