In my journey for knowledge, I have begun reading biographies of great people. There is so much we can learn from these people, and reading their stories is truly inspirational.
This month, I started reading about Martin Luther King Jr. Besides having one of the greatest first names, his life, attitude, and words are a great guide for us today.
One of the phrases that struck me was when Dr. King said, “You gotta have faith. Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” How powerful.
For Dr. King and his followers, faith was believing in the cause and having the courage to act even though they didn’t know the outcome. They had faith that their actions would produce results, even when there was no guarantee the actions would lead to change.
How hard is it for us in our daily lives to have faith and take the first step to whatever it is we want to accomplish?
If you have something in your life you want to change, first identify the problem. Then, come up with a unique and creative solution, and take that chance to make a difference.
Taking that first step can defy convention. But having the faith to take the first step even when you can't see the rest of the staircase can be the difference between being stuck and making a difference.
Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
