I have entered into a new life journey. I’ve decided that I want, or rather, need, to shed a few pounds. Over the past 5 years I may have overindulged myself a little; to the point where my clothes and belt line have started to rebel.
What I have found out is there are a couple of secrets to losing weight.
The first is to have a plan. Understand what foods, exercise, and behavior you need to have to accomplish this goal.
The second is to have a support community. As you go through the journey, having the help of a coach and others is paramount to staying on track and being accountable.
Lastly, which is probably the hardest, but most important, is the power to say no. No when the cookie jar is passed, no when the bag of chips is sitting right there, no when the flight attendant comes by with the bag of goodies.
Now what you’re thinking is this is just called will power. But, I believe it is much more than that.
Saying no is personal power. It is probably one of the most empowering and personally satisfying words to say. In today’s world of yes, yes, yes, having the ability to say no gives you so much more power and control over your life.
Next time you are struggling with self-confidence or doubt, just say no and I think you will find your attitude will change.
Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
